Poem: Weight of the World

Weight of the World

Big enemies get our full attention
they must be dealt with
their tonnage put to rest

And then
in the new silence
(after the rejoicing)
you hear the smaller voice
of fear, the background
of your world
and you realize
weight is lost
from the ounces up.
