In memory

White linen night gown
folded neatly
on the side of her bed,
she loved that

Soft pink lipstick
beautiful smile
eyes that don’t miss a thing,
and smile anyway

Wisdom learned
from illness and trials
shared over speaker phone
to family out of town

Wisdom overheard
as I made the bed
or dusted the mantle art
eavesdropping drops of gold

Delicate moments
met with a joke or smile
to ease discomfort
and make heavy moments lighter

No room for embarrassment
over the body’s frailty
every day is a gift
and every breath ordained

A tired smile
on difficult days
a look that said, “soon”
wistful at times

Now an empty seat –
her place on the couch
I dread seeing it there
without her

She lived a life of Life
surrounded by love
and giving love
from the Fount of Love

White linen night gown
folded neatly
on the side of her bed,
she loved that.

A beautiful tribute to that wonderful lady! I can hardly type for the big ploppy tears…

So beautiful. I love how you connect the beginning and end. Very lovely.
